The National Information Platforms for Nutrition (NiPN) Annual Dissemination Meeting 2019 was held on the 09th December 2019 in Vientiane Capital under the chairmanship of Dr. Kikeo CHANTHABOURY, Vice-Minister of Planning and Investment with the participation of representatives from concerned line ministries and provincial authorities.
The objective of the meeting was the dissemination of information regarding child nutrition in the Lao PDR through the National Information Platforms for Nutrition (NiPN) to strengthen the capacity of its information sharing, establish protective measures against malnutrition and the consequence thereof as well as present the progress of implementation of the National Strategy for Nutrition with the support of UNICEF and the European Union.
Dr. Kikeo CHANTHABOURY, Vice-Minister of Planning and Investment stated: “the evaluation and analysis of the existing data on nutrition as well as the recommendations are all essential to the Lao Government as they will help create a better understanding on the different policies regarding nutrition and contribute to the preparation of the 9th National socio-economic Development Plan. This initiative by the National Information Platforms for Nutrition (NiPN) plays a key role in designing and implementing works related to nutrition through the use of better evidence and information. Recent studies have shown that the Lao PDR has a strong policy at central and provincial levels as well as a strong strategy which in support of the implementation of measures against malnutrition. This is all thanks to a strong coordination at central and provincial levels as well as the efficient information sharing on nutrition through the country.
